摘要

In this paper we extend the base station (BS)\udassignment problem to incorporate backhaul related constraints\udinto the assignment decision. This is motivated by the fact that\udthe deployment of more spectral efficient radio access\udtechnologies are currently imposing stringent bandwidth\udrequirements at cell sites, and there is a growing concern that\udbackhaul network can become a new network bottleneck in\udcertain deployment scenarios. Unlike existing assignment\udapproaches, we propose a BS assignment algorithm envisioned as\uda suitable technique capable to cope, at some extent, with possible\udbackhaul congestion situations in OFDMA-based systems.\udSimulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can\udprovide the same system capacity with less backhaul resources so\udthat, under backhaul bottleneck situations, a better overall\udnetwork performance is effectively achieved.
